Blue Angels / Thunderbirds

Looks like they’ve sprung for cameras like the 360 cam I’ve got for each of their cockpits… 😯😃🤓

It’s a shame that people on Twitter and on the news had to take something nice / distracting like this and poop all over it though. You’ve got one group of folks that are talking about how much it cost to do the performance, saying how the money should have been spent on PPE for the hospitals and doctors… and then the second group is mad because the mayor of NYC scolded the Jewish folks who held / attended a funeral in which hundreds of people attended, flouting social distancing rules… and the bitchy people complained that the folks who went outside to watch the Blue Angels and Thunderbirds fly over weren’t scolded in the same way for their supposed “gathering” to do so. 😐 Because those two things are apples to apples and definitely make for a perfect comparison. (Note the heavy sarcasm in that last sentence please.)

Quite a video though… those guys / gals are brave / nuts. 😊

Oh, and as for the cost of the show, and the hospitals needing supplies… I can almost guarantee you that not a single hospital or doctor is going to ask for PPE or supplies and be told, “Well, we would have been able to get you that extra ventilator, but we had that airplane show the other day, so…” 🙄😅🤦🏻‍♂️ I mean, let’s be real. The hospitals and doctors are going to get the help that they get. The Blue Angels / Thunderbirds show isn’t going to reduce whatever help those folks would / are able to get from the government any more than Pence’s trip to the NIH did, or Trump’s flights back and forth to his properties. 😒 Let the people have some fun. You know how many kids were probably thrilled when they stepped outside and saw that stuff? 😁

See? The grumps even tainted my viewing experience, and I wasn’t even there. 😏🤷🏻‍♂️

Alone Together

I like when people make weird things like this, since I, myself, am a weird thing. 😏

I’ve been coming across more and more articles that talk about taking care of your brain during this stressful phase of “locking ourselves away” but this is the first animation that I’ve come across – and it’s made in a way that speaks to me probably more than it would most folks. 🤷🏻‍♂️ Now, whether or not I’ll follow any of its advice, that’s another story. (Although, I gotta do something… the past couple days have been particularly bleh.)

Distraction

I think I found a new series of videos on YouTube to take my mind off of reality…

(Plus I think I’m gonna see if I can dig out this DVD for viewing later this evening…)

Poison Ivy

Okay, I’ve had it for about a week now, so I think I’m entitled to do a little bitching. Well, probably not, actually… since it was my dumb ass who went out to clip a few feeds from the flower beds without wearing gloves. 🤦🏻‍♂️ What makes it worse is that it’s not the first time that I’ve done it. Every couple of years something motivates me to cut some of the crap out of the flower beds, and each time I end up with poison ivy, poison oak, poison whatever on my hands… 🙄🤷🏻‍♂️

Thankfully most of it is on the back of my right hand, with a little bit on my left and some random spots on both of my arms. But I’ve got some topical steroid goo that I’ve been using, and then I have calamine lotion and hydrocortisone cream waiting on the bench. But lemme tell ya… even though I know it’s not a good thing for it, having hot, hot shower water hitting itchy poison ivy areas is the most awesome yet most horrible feeling possible, but at the same time. 😏😣😋

I’ve never claimed to have any allergies, but I’d have to say that whatever this is breaks that idea. I can see the puffy on the back of my hand, and of course some of it is blistering, but while it’s annoying… really annoying… it makes me think of the poor folks who are allergic to peanuts, shellfish, etc- causing a similar reaction all over. 😯😬 I guess some people have to even go to the ER if they get poison ivy… but with folks like that, I guess I’m just not sure when you know if you should go. 🤔😳

I guess that’s because mine isn’t near that point… and also because it really seems like one of those things where you’d sit in the waiting room for an hour and a half, and they’d send you on your way with a prescription for whatever poison ivy goo you’ve probably already got at home. 😏 Meh… distracting myself now with a movie that Dad suggested. I was gonna fall back on a Bond movie since I couldn’t think of anything that I “haven’t seen yet, but should” until Dad reminded me about Age of Adaline. That’s one that I remember wanting to see even when it first came out in theaters, so I don’t know how it has stayed under my radar for the past five years or whatever it’s been… 🤷🏻‍♂️

Unsure

A video came across my feed last night, as if YouTube can read my mind… because I’ve been watching the stock market remain solid and growing after that one big dip – once the world realized how serious the coronavirus was gonna be – and it just didn’t make sense to me. Turns out I’m probably looking at the current, ongoing rally in a far too “zoomed in way” that doesn’t allow me to see the whole picture. 🤔

Of course there’s no way to know if this person’s charts and historical data will compare in any way to what’s gonna happen with the markets during the next many months, but I found it interesting. 🤷🏻‍♂️🙂

EDIT: Adding another video that I watched while I was half asleep last night. Full of information that I kinda knew, but I probably just needed that part of my brain to be poked and jostled ’til the pieces fell into place again. #NerdBrainFood

I’m So Behind

I’ve been playing around with some iPhone apps that use photogrammetry to create 3D models of whatever random crap you point it at, and I’ve definitely been having a good time playing around with it and seeing what kind of creations I end up with…

And then I run into this in my YouTube “suggested videos” section. 😅

Heh… I am so behind when it comes to all of the latest and greatest VFX that are possible if you have a beefy computer. But, I’m also smart enough to know that what this d00d is doing is way beyond my capability. I mean, sure, if I spent hours and hours learning the software I’d be able to start doing the most basic crap… but yeah… for now anyway, I’mma go ahead and let this skill set pass me by. 😏

Call me when my phone can just “do this” for me.

Weird Clouds

Went out earlier to pick up some groceries for Dad via the Kroger quick pick-up thing… and I have to admit that I was surprised by how quickly they had the order together and loaded into my trunk. I might have to look into using that service myself. On the way home I noticed the clouds were looking particularly picturesque – so I threw the old camcorder out for a time-lapse. (Because of course I did… heh)

(As always, best viewed in HD at full screen… and I think the iPhone 7+ does it slightly better than this…)
