Lawn Day

My lawn d00ds came to mow today, just minutes before the threatening looking clouds started letting out some sprinkles. ๐Ÿ˜ฏ They tore ass around the place to get it done as quickly as possible, but the storm clouds ended up mostly just blowing over without dropping anything. The mailman showed up at the same time as well, delivering my big jug of RoundUp “KILLS EVERYTHING IT TOUCHES” juice w/built-in pump and sprayer. ๐Ÿ˜ƒ (Yay for Amazon Prime w/free shipping.)

Weeds have basically taken over the entire line of spirea at the back of my property, so that’ll be the first place I test my aim to see if I can kill the weeds and just the weeds. ๐Ÿ˜ฌ There’s also a couple of flower beds that haven’t been converted to “just mow over it” quite yet, so I’m gonna do some unapologetic plant killin’ the next time we have a few days that aren’t so stinkin’ hot. I’ve got the plans in my head – we’ll just have to wait and see if I’m able to complete it all with any degree of success.

Once fall is here, and the landscaping folks are running out of things to do, I’ll probably have a few of them come here so I can get some quotes on how much it would be for them to bring a Bobcat here and just rip out the entire line of spirea. ๐ŸŒณ๐ŸŒณ๐ŸŒณ๐ŸŒณ๐ŸŒณ๐Ÿšœ And not ghetto style, like I’ve done with a few things… I want them out, and once they’re out I wanna make that whole area look as if it was any other part of my lawn. ๐Ÿคจ It’ll be weird not having that physical barrier to the neighbor’s yard anymore.

Meh… I’m just restless and my brain keeps pestering me. I should probably get my teefs and thyroid issue under control before I start sweating this other crap that falls into the “optional” category. ๐Ÿ˜’

Exploring

Yes, this is a five minute video of a rabbit. ๐Ÿ˜ And to be honest, I could have stood there for an hour watching him. I can’t help it, I’m just a critter person… and this is one of my new bunnies’ first trips around to the front of the house to check things out. ๐Ÿ˜ฏ I’m choosing to believe that he’s actually a scout, sent into “the unknown territory” by his less brave siblings. ๐Ÿ˜Š

Prepping to Prep

With all of the rain and warm weather, it’s getting to be about that time for mowing to start up again. I’ve already talked to my lawn d00d and got that all set up, but I still have to get out there and get things kinda cleaned up beforehand. I’ve got lots of plants that start growing before the first mowing even happens, plus the still-standing corpses of plants that grew and died last season… so I’m gonna do my best to get rid of all of that stuff, which will actually make the mowing that much easier for d00d’s mowing guys.

This work shouldn’t be too taxing, but I’m still planning on using the better part of a day to do it. Also today I’ve been gathering names and numbers for bush trimming services, so tomorrow I’ll be able to make some calls (hopefully) so I can get some estimates for the bushes around the house as well as the ones along the rear of the property. I hate spending money, but since I didn’t have anything done with them last year – I guess I can mentally take whatever it costs and divide it by two, telling myself that it was actually for service that covers two seasons of “bush stuff.”

Surprisingly, I got a decent night of sleep last night, so that’s gonna make today easier… half chill, half prepping for stuff that I need to do this coming week. I’ll be glad when all of the “outside stuff” has been handled though. It’s the same as the inside of the house… my brain just relaxes more easily when things are cleaned up and looking nice. And right now the outside of my property looks pretty rough.
