Miserable

What an awful night… and I’m not sure if it’s over yet. I don’t know if it was something specific that I ate, or a combination of the different things that I ate… but yeah, spending every couple of hours in the bathroom yacking was not how I anticipated last night going. And this is a little gross, but the main taste coming back up was the sauce from the meatballs… so I don’t think I’ll be able to eat any more of those.

And of course it had to start right after I decided to message some lady last night on Facebook about a camera that she had listed for sale. I told her I’d come in town as soon as I was up and around the next day, and now I’m all barfy and bleh. 🀒 I think I’ve entered a window of a couple hours where I should be okay again though, so the deal is still on. (My throat feels really effed up now, though… I’m hoping that what I’m feeling isn’t serious or permanent damage around my thyroid surgery area. 😧)

Hopefully it actually works like it’s supposed to… because I’ll probably use it as a camera that I just keep in my car for moments when I need a “better than my cell phone” camera but didn’t realize it until that moment. It’s a Canon SX210, which came out in 2010, but it’s 14MP and it’s got a 14x zoom lens – which is pretty good for a little point and shoot. Can’t beat the price of twenty bucks, though… which is low enough that it outweighs my aversion to interacting with the camera’s human former-owner to get it. 😏

The Predator In The Predator

Another day, another celebrity scandal. This time it is with the movie “The Predator” and the director, Shane Black. It seems that Shane hired a friend of his for a bit part, one in which he was acting with only Olivia Munn, and that friend is actually a registered sex offender. πŸ˜• The crime was an incident several years ago where he was sending sexually inappropriate things to a minor via email. For this he was charged, convicted, and did time in jail. The worst part is that Black didn’t inform the other actors in the movie, to give them a chance to say whether they would or would not work with someone on the sex offender registry.

So Olivia Munn did what most anyone would do when they found out, including contacting the studio to express her anger about being kept in the dark and pushing for her scene with this man to be removed from the movie before it was released. πŸ‘πŸ» They didn’t respond immediately, likely talking with the editors and figuring out how they could do it without affecting the movie – but what she wanted ended up happeningΒ and the scene was cut. Even if you think that people who have “served their time” deserve another shot at what they want to do for a career, it’s hard to argue that the way the director kept this information from Munn and the others wasn’t wrong.

At that point you’d think the matter would have been considered settled, or at least placed on pause while the actors do promotion for the movie, which is due to be released in the next week or two. πŸ€·πŸ»β€β™‚οΈ But despite the studio having her back and altering the movie, it appears that Munn is still mad – because she’s continuing to talk about the incident in multiple interviews. 🀨 Her co-stars have been with her for a few of them, and some of them have put out statements obviously condemning sexual predators and supporting Munn… but those same co-stars are now being attacked by the predictable social justice mob because they’re allegedly not supportive of Olivia Munn. πŸ™„

They’re all men, and of course they’re now being called every name in the book. Think about it. πŸ€” They’re actors hired for a movie, they did their part, they are proud of their work, and they want to do these media events to hype their movie as intended. The director, completely beyond the actors’ control or knowledge, hired a sex offender, so now they’ve all been dropped into the lion’s den when it comes to people waiting for and expecting a reaction or statement.

As other celebrities have learned, and as these actors are learning now – there’s no correct answer you can give when it comes to something like this. 😠 Even if you stand on the table and scream how much you hate sex offenders and can’t believe the director would hire one, there’s still gonna be a huge group of folks who will attack you for not giving reformed criminals a second chance. You bigot.

So, since Munn decided that she was going to continue talking about the controversy at whatever press appearances she had for the movie, the rest of the cast decided that they would not be joining her. Probably because they didn’t see the point in attending movie hype interviews where they couldn’t hype their movie. Also, like I said, Munn’s original problem/complaint had been solved, so it isn’t as if she is actively fighting for something that requires her co-stars’ support. And that’s what they’re being attacked for… for not supporting Munn as she rehashes her original complaint. πŸ˜’ She has every right to complain about whatever she wants, but why should the rest of the cast feel obligated to follow her around and nod their heads in agreement, when they had as much to do with hiring the guy as Olivia Munn did? (ie: none)

Most of the negative things that I’ve read regarding Munn aren’t talking about how she wanted (and got) the scene cut where she unknowingly acted opposite a sexual predator. People generally understand that. What people don’t understand is why she’s handling this in a way that seems designed to torpedo the success of this movie. She’s still upset at the director, even going so far as to not accept his public apology, and is now trying to damage him and the studio financially. 😐 Hear me out…

Munn’s original complaint was legit. Her request for the scene to be removed was reasonable, and the director and studio obliged and did just that. Now, during the press events, she could have done the traditional interviews, focusing on the film, with the other actors there as well, also focusing on the movie… but that’s not what she’s doing. She has chosen to go on at length about that controversy, which is her right – but if her co-stars don’t want to take on that burden as well, you can’t blame them. Especially when she’s doing everything in a way that tarnishes the movie, surrounds it in drama, and likely reduces its potential for success. Those co-stars worked just as hard as she did, so you could understand them being upset at how she’s doing this.

And the thing is, I’m all for her making her point. If she wants to make people aware that Hollywood still has icky directors and icky producers that hire icky people, then she has a perfect example here and she should run with it… but not days before the movie that they all worked so hard on opens. πŸ˜’ The director and studio fixed the immediate problem, so there is nothing further she needs to “fight for” regarding this particular movie – so she should get out there and do the traditional promotional press that actors and actresses are expected to do. No harm would have come from waiting. It wouldn’t be the first time that someone had to bite their tongue and support a movie that they weren’t particularly proud of, but she has chosen to make it “a thing” right now, when it will hurt everyone the most.

So that’s what I think people are complaining about. That she’s taking an issue that was resolved, and now she’s amplifying it in interviews and on social media in a way that’s harmful to the movie, the director, the other actors, etc. She could have still promoted the movie, or even not done interviews if that’s what she’d prefer, and just waited for the movie to get through its first few weeks where the most of its money will be made. πŸ€¦πŸ»β€β™‚οΈ The facts wouldn’t change, the issue would still be there, and she would still have plenty of media outlets that would be happy to hear her out, just as social media would do. In fact, that would earn her more respect – having stood up for herself during the shoot, gotten the studio to make changes, went out and gritted her teeth and supported the movie and her co-stars, and then she could have blasted out the “behind the scenes / yeah, but you didn’t know…” for everyone to see, hear, or read – and likely agree with.

I’m not sure why Olivia Munn, making statements on the issue, requires all of her co-stars to be there with her or somehow “support her” more than they already have. What more does she need “support” with? She’s a strong woman and she’s doing fine alerting everyone to what happened on her own. πŸ€·πŸ»β€β™‚οΈ Her co-stars just didn’t feel like getting wrapped up in drama, so the SJW mob has written them off as monsters, just as bad as the RSO, just as bad as the director, just as bad as the studio. πŸ˜’ And the ones that are reaffirming their support for her… they’re still being attacked as being too late, too disingenuous, too lacking, etc. The same way that Munn won’t accept Black’s apology, the SJW mob will not accept anything supportive that her co-stars say. They want her co-stars to offer those sentiments, but only so they can attack them for it. 😠

A whole slew of people who want to be mad about something, like spiders waiting for a vibration in their web – and then when they get it they won’t let go. πŸ˜” It feels too good to them. Every single co-star of hers could come forward with a genuine, heartfelt show of support – even if they’ve already shown support before it got as big as it is now – and the mob would still swarm on them, wrap them up in their webs, and suck the life out of them for as long as possible. 😏 Miserable people who only feel good by making other people miserable, whether they truly deserve it or not. 😟 And, sadly, they believe their outbursts, attacks, and twitter rants actually do something to improve the thing that they’re upset about. “I’M FURIOUS. I’M MAKING A DIFFERENCE. I’M A GOOD PERSON.”Β πŸ™‡πŸ»β€β™‚οΈ

Wow… heh… this was way longer than I expected it to be. πŸ˜… I never really know until the words start pouring out of my brain and through my fingers, how long some of these impassioned rants will be. It really helps with my anxiety right now, as well as keeping my brain focused on “other stuff” and distracted from the stuff around here… 😳 so just know that when I pop off with some seemingly random posts like this now and then, there’s probably more than the obvious reason behind it. πŸ€·πŸ»β€β™‚οΈπŸ˜

Woozy

I’m glad when the weather is crappy on the days that I feel crappy. Today was one of those days, for both things. πŸ˜• It’s hotter than shit outside, but there was even a little bit of hail for a couple of minutes earlier. But I don’t know if it was something I ate or what, but yesterday afternoon through today… bleh… 🀒 Thankfully it never got to the point where I was kneeling at the porcelain throne, and I think that by the time I wake up tomorrow I’ll be alright. 🀞🏻 Might try to eat some soup later. πŸ€·πŸ»β€β™‚οΈ

Even though I don’t accomplish a lot each day, being sorta laid up for an entire day is making me twitchy. I’ve got all these little things in my mind that I’d like to work on around here, some of which wouldn’t involve much more than sitting here at the laptop, so I’m hoping to maybe at least get some of that stuff done this evening – while being careful not to do anything to provoke the gurgle… heh

Maybe it was all those frozen taquitos the other day. πŸ€”

Same Ol’ Song and Dance

Ended up staying awake for 28 hours straight, then slept from 8a to 3p today… so now I’m likely to be up all night, which doesn’t really help with my plans for tomorrow in the early afternoon. I’ll keep my fingers crossed regarding that, but man… so glad to finally have my medication in hand. It took some oomph to get up and go in town to get it, but yeah… this month was ridiculous when it came to getting these filled. They weren’t even new scripts, just refills.

If I didn’t know how much I’d hurt, and how negatively my ability would be affected, I’d try to wean myself off of this shit. Not only do I have to go through this routine nearly every month, but in the days leading up to when I call for my refills – I’m already starting to worry what type of clusterfuck will happen this time, that will end up with me going through temporary withdrawals. So basically 1/3 of every month is either spent worrying about my refills, waiting for my refills, or suffering withdrawals from being delayed from getting my refills.

Gah… so tired of it. But yeah, I think frustration built up over the past couple of days, which is why I ended up barfing out those two super-long recent blog entries about all the stuff going on down in Florida. I needed something to take my mind off of how I was feeling, and that seemed to do the trick. But it looks like I’m going to have to set back even more of my meds for the end of the month from here on out. Shouldn’t have to short myself each day just to make sure I don’t run out when I get screwed over, but yeah, I guess that’s what I have to do.

Believe it or not, even though my court case was back in the middle of February, they still haven’t made a determination. That might account for some of the delay, if they were waiting and hoping that I’d lose my right to those meds, but who knows. Whenever I do get a chance to talk to my lawyers next though, I do intend to point out what’s being done each month to see if there’s something that they can do – or even if it could be seen as some sort of spiteful or unjust action that could carry some sort of penalties for them.

Reality tells me there’s not shit they can do, that I can be yanked around basically as much as they wanna yank me around, and that it’s up to me to figure out how to protect myself towards the end of each month. Ahh, what a feeling.

RfD – Reality For Dummies

There is an epidemic in America these days. It’s a damaging combination of ignorance, anger, stubbornness, apathy, gullibility, reluctance, spite, denial, and straight up stupidity. (Among at least a dozen other harmful ways of thinking.) Since this post will revolve mostly around political opinions or beliefs, let me say that I don’t even care what “side” you’re on when it comes to any particular issue… I just want you to be able to recognize and accept things that are false, just as I want you to be able to recognize and accept things that are truthful. Operating within the bounds of reality, to put it simply. Apparently, though, that’s something that can prove to be incredibly difficult for an obscene amount of humans on this planet.

  • Robert Mueller and his team announce 13 new indictments resulting from their investigation. Most of the people are Russian, not linked to Donald Trump in any specific way, and it says the people that the Russians did work with were unwitting participants… unaware that their strings were being pulled by Russians.

Donald Trump and his supporters immediately seized on this news, and either through ignorance or deception – spun it as some sort of huge vindication for Trump. Going on about how the actions of those Russians had no impact on the election, and that it proves that Donald Trump and his campaign “did nothing wrong” and that there was no collusion. All of that, and more, based on these specific indictments on thatΒ specific day.

RfD Explanation: 1) Nobody can say with certainty that the actions of the Russians had zero impact on the election results. You can only say that if you know for certain what would have happened without Russian interference, which is impossible. 2) As for the “did nothing wrong” and “no collusion” claims… those claims can both be true for this incident, with these indictments, while still allowing for those claims to be false when it comes to anything else in the investigation. If the FBI is investigating the mob and they arrest some low level shmuck – just because it was “the shmuck” that was picked up, it obviously doesn’t guarantee that the mob leaders are innocent and will never be caught and charged in the future. That shouldn’t even need explanation.

  • President Obama created DACA protections through an executive order, which Donald Trump has since nullified once he came into office.

In the time since then, Donald Trump has been endlessly tweeting about how Democrats don’t want to help DACA, they don’t really want DACA, they only want it as a campaign issue, and how badly DACA recipients have been treated by the Democrats. He also claims that Republicans are the ones who are working hard to save it, that they want to make a deal to save DACA, and that he’s offering DACA as a great deal to Democrats.

RfD Explanation: Donald Trump single-handedly ended DACA. There shouldn’t be a need for elaboration after that, but… not only is Trump responsible for DACA being in the dire position that it’s in, but he and the Republicans will not vote on a clean DACA bill. He wants to use it as a bargaining chip – the exact thing that he has accused the Democrats of wanting to do. Democrats were even willing to deal, to offer requested funding for “The Wall” in a bipartisan deal that would save DACA – but Trump went back on his word and rejected the deal, feeling he wasn’t getting enough from the Democrats to save DACA. Simply put, the GOP controls the senate and the house, so if Trump wanted to save DACA as he claims, the Republicans could do it themselves – with just a few (happily given) votes from Democrats. Every argument he makes on this is nonsense.

  • Rob Goldman, Vice President of Advertising at Facebook, made several tweets about their part in the Mueller investigation – since they’re being looked at due to Russians buying blocks of advertising on the site before and after the election. He wrote today that “I have seen all of the Russian ads and I can say very definitively that swaying the election was *NOT* the main goal.”

RfD Explanation: The problem with this statement is that Donald Trump and loads of his followers started retweeting this information as fact. That the Russians were “definitively” not trying to sway the election. However, unless the ad buyers directly told Goldman the goal of their plan – his use of the word “definitively” is a huge issue. He can look at all the ads, he can look at other information, but his conclusion is simply an opinion or impressionΒ – not something that should be presented as a fact, and then retweeted by Trump as a fact. It would be like me saying “I read this help wanted ad, and can say definitively that they wouldn’t hire my friend Jim.” It’s not something that can be claimed as fact.

Those are just the three most recent incidents in my mind, where people are being sold a load of horse shit – and they either don’t care or they don’t know any better, so they run with it and repeat it to others as gospel as well. As long as something fits the preferred narrative that someone already has in their head, they’re not going to apply critical thought. Some others… they might actually suspect (or even know) that a piece of information may be partially or completely false, but for some reason they’d rather feel right (with others that think like them) than actually be right.

I’m sure there are some Trump supporters who started out legitimately putting their hope into the guy. Wanting to give him a chance, and believing his words when he’d say how much he was gonna fight for “the little guy” or whatever it was that sold himself to them. Over time though, I’m sure that many of those folks started questioning, and then realizing… that in so many instances, Trump is ridiculously full of shit. But by that point they’re already fully invested – and even just acknowledging the lies and deceptions to themselves is something they aren’t willing to do. Realizing and admitting that you’ve been suckered, even just to yourself, is a difficult thing to do. Nobody likes feeling duped… and many Trump supporters, to me at least, seem like they’d rather angrily defend everything about him and their support for him, rather than allowing anyone else to see that they’ve realized how much they’ve been conned. Their feet are dug in at that point, and nothing will change their mind about how they’re gonna play the rest of the game.

I’m not sure which people are more scary/frustrating to me. The ones who know that Trump (or whoever) is full of shit most of the time, or the folks who really do believe everything that Trump (or whoever) says. I can understand people in the first group, but the second group… how can anyone be so oblivious when they’re being lied to over and over? But hell, in both instances – I can’t help but feel a little bit sorry for them. It would suck to put your faith into someone that turned out to be a snake oil salesman, just as it would suck to be so blinded by hope that you can no longer recognize fact from fiction.

The divide between folks like me and folks like them… it’s getting bigger and bigger with each day that passes. On top of that, while I thought that when it comes to politics, that people would start to consider themselves more as independents, as issue based thinkers and voters – but the opposite seems to be true. Democrats/liberals are moving farther to the left just as quickly as Republicans/conservatives are moving farther to the right. Things feel broken and somewhat irreparable, and I don’t see how it’s going to get any better any time soon. That’s what brings me back to the topic of this post. If people could just make more of an effort to find/recognize/admit truths and resist lies and bullshit, and act on those truths and lies accordingly, things would have to get a little better, right?
